AGATA OLEK
Olek is a Polish born artist, who recently received Sculpture In Situ Artaq award, France and 2011 LMCC FUND grant for a performance in public space. A loop after a loop. Life and art are inseparable. She crochet everything that enters her space. Sometimes it’s a text message, a medical report, found objects. she believes in the limited life of the art object and art concept.
Crocheted Painting to Shake Hands is an interactive performance piece based on the instruction from Yoko Ono’s book “Grapefruit.” Individuals outfitted in crocheted camouflage skin to mask their identity were placed in different locations throughout Manhattan.
